Cathy Busha

Cathy Busha, Wingspan's director of programming and the director of the Office of LGBTQ Affairs at the University of Arizona at the time of the video, arrived in Tucson in 1998. She lends insight into the realities of queer identity during the first decade of the 2000s, especially the challenges that come with sustaining long-term growth over time for LGBTQ organizations.

As she remarks, those who are engaged in social justice work are never "off the clock" in the sense that the work is part of one's identity. She also brings up a question that is still relevant today: how do we continue to change hearts and minds while also pushing for policy changes?
